Keyword Detection during audio playback

We are working on a use-case which needs speech recognition to happen while audio is playing. During audio playback, user need to give speech input, say for ex. “Stop audio”. Audio should be paused once the user starts speaking and the speech input should be recognized.
Can you suggest if we can use OpenEars+Rejecto for the above use case?
We have tried out the same, using OpenEars+Rejecto. It’s not accepting user input during audio playback. Recognition happening only after audio playback.
Is this the expected behaviour? Or is there a way to achieve the above use case using Rejecto or any other OpenEars plugin?
We use OpenEars v2.501, Rejecto v2.5, iOS 9.3, Xcode 7.1
